Oatmeal Season Already?

I slept in (well, sleeping in for me is 6am) and didn’t have time for the Push-ups Challenge exercises – I will do them after work.

I made Ben a Green Monster this weekend and he loved it! He made himself another one this morning and left a little for me – I drank it as soon as I got back from my run 🙂 And yes, I am completely clueless as to why these pics keep showing up sideways.Ben Green Monster

I also left a little note for Ben to make our sandwiches for lunch since I didn’t do it last night. I am really bad about not letting Ben make me any food because it won’t be the way I like it. But, I am doing us both a diservice by making myself do everything and not letting him help me. He even said something about being worried about how he made my PB&J because he might put too much or too little PB. It’s sad that I am so controlling and weird about my food sometimes and he is so aware of it.

Oatmeal Season – I can’t eat oatmeal in warm weather, it makes me feel gross and overly full for some reason. But, it was chilly this morning so I made oats. It made me sad to think it’s already oatmeal season here.  I talked to my mom back home in California and it’s 100 degrees there right now! It doesn’t feel like Fall there until October. I don’t want summer to end!DSCN1324I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon – I need anti-malaria pills for Belize. It actually might be too late since you’re supposed to start taking them a week before you leave. Great.

  1. I soooo need to try this Green Monster everyone speaks of. Can you send me a good starter recipe? Like as in, tasty and not too scary?!?! LOL! 🙂

Regarding your comment on my post today: Bad runs happen… all.the.time. We just need to push ourselves and remember the good ones. Thanks for enjoying the post… it was hard to put myself out there but sometimes admitting the problem is the first step to overcoming it. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Welcome to the east coast where fall starts early and summer comes late. Oatmeal weather has been all summer for me up here in MA. I think we had 2 weeks of actual summer.

I hear you on the controlling bit. Hunni is scared to cook sometimes because he wants it to be perfect and it never is. He’s not an aweful cook but he’s not that great either so I normally just do it myself. I’ve had to learn to ask for help and be satisfied when he does it versus not.

  3. still too hot here for oatmeal, but i am eagerly awaiting the fall weather to roll in so i can fully enjoy a bowl of steaming oats

  4. Haha I ate oats in georgia when it was 95 degrees and got some funny looks. I don’t think they had oatmeal in their house–guess it doesn’t ever get very cold down there

  5. I am the same way with the husband making my food. Sometimes it’s hard to let go, but it’s worth it!

  6. I am that way with my husband about food AND doing the laundry. Silly I know. I am just particular.
Yay to oatmeal! I was thinking about that last night, how great it will be to have oatmeal again with the cooler temps!

  7. I used to be the same way with my husband and my food but it just makes him stressed out. Poor hubbies, they just want to please their picky wives! Maybe loosening up the reigns a little will help with your intuitive eating journey? Just letting go of a little control and still knowing that you can balance your meals the rest of the day will help. 🙂 Belize…..so lucky!!

  8. it was 59 degrees here this morning!!!! i like being “in charge” of food for myself as well– and elliot is perfectly happy with that, lol. i am the primary grocery shopper, but we are both completely in tune with each other’s eating habits and elliot eats everything that i eat, and i just don’t eat as much meat or baked goods as he does. elliot even plays this game and tries to pick what i would pick on each menu when we go out to eat. haha. it’s an ongoing learning process, too! i wouldn’t be too worried about it… not “sad”!!!! you are allowed to have your preferences and particulars! we are not all the same 🙂

  9. Summer went by so fast! I am looking forward to oatmeal season, lol.. it’s my favorite breakfast and like you, I just can’t stomach it in the hot weather. Enjoy your day!
