One Waffle? WTF?

I don’t know what I was thinking byΒ  having just 1 waffle and a Green Monster for breakfast. That is not enough food for me. My RD has told me I need to eat more in the morning (and at lunch) to avoid overeating/binging later. Today is perfect example of why – I was hungry at 9am and can’t seem to get full now!

At 9am I ate an apple to help, but it didn’t do much.DSCN1301

A bit later I ate some pretzels with almond butter and some unpictured trail mix – this helped πŸ™‚ This girl needs a hearty breakfast – that’s that. DSCN1302

I still ate lunch at noon – I was hungry. I had a veggie burger wrap with a pickle on the side. DSCN1304

And a couple of dark chocolate covered pretzels for dessert – these are the last of them 😦DSCN1307

Snot Rockets

I have never been able to (or really ever wanted to) blow a snot rocket. Maybe I am a lady, maybe I don’t possess the snot rocket gene, but I can’t bring myself to do it. But, when I run – so does my nose. My answer to this is a folded up paper towel* tucked in my shorts or sports bra. I just blow my nose mid-stride and keep going. *You must use a paper towel NOT a napkin or tissue paper for this – anything else falls apart. Sure, it gets super gross by the end of a run, but I don’t want to be running around shooting crap out of my nose. Snot rockets are not for me.DSCN1294DSCN1292

It was cold this morning, but my bananas are not ripe enough for oatmeal. I decided on a Green MonsterΒ  and a waffle with PB&J. DSCN1300

Someone asked about my trail mix…I always mix it up depending on my mood! This time I used Cheerios, Almonds, Cashews, Graham cereal, Chocolate Chips, and Raisins.DSCN1295

I mix it up in a big ziploc bag or tupperware container, toss around and enjoy!DSCN1288

Fruity & Ruby

After a big, late lunch all I wanted for dinner was fruit! I cut up an apple, 2 kiwis and some watermelon. DSCN1285

On the side I had a piece of cheese toast – this is one of my favorite savory things to eat. Normally I’m a sweets girl all the way.DSCN1286

I have been having a very hard time randomly snacking whenever I’m in the kitchen and the way I’ve decided to stop this is to

1. Chew gum while I’m cooking dinner.

2. If I leave room for dessert – choose 1 thing to eat after dinner and not eat anything else while making lunches.

3.Β  After I’m done – brush my teeth. Turn off the kitchen lights.

I made a big bag of trail-mix tonight too. I love this stuff.DSCN1288

Now I’m watching Ruby. I love this show and think she’s super cute and inspirational!

But, is it sad that I’m eating ice cream while watching her show (about her struggle with weight-loss)? I feel guilty…DSCN1289Tomorrow I’m up early for a run! See you then!

Day of rest & Raspados

I always Rest the day after a long run, but I can’t do nothing! So Ben and I took a walk after our initial test of the Push-Up Challenge.

After church and errands I mentioned the Raspado stand that saved my life one day after I had been walking for an hour. Ben had never been there so we stopped. I got a medium mango. Isn’t it funny that there is some man with a snow cone stand in his front yard? Today I learned he also sells produce. Noted.DSCN1275

Before I let myself devour the raspado I knew I needed a real lunch. I wanted 2 things: veggies and popcorn. I know it’s random, but I listened. First, I made a HUGE salad topped with chickpeas for protein.DSCN1280DSCN1279

And then I let myself eat all the popcorn I wanted. I was happy. Simple pleasures are the best.DSCN1282

Now I have to clean, but I’m trying hard to procrastinate. Feel free to leave a pressing question or comment on the blog that I must drop everything to attend to!

Push-ups Challenge

Ben and I saw Julie and Julia last night. I liked it! I normally only like trashy comedies like The Hangover and the timeless classics like Tommy Boy. But, we both really enjoyed it. Maybe it was because I saw some of myself in Julie? And it made Ben happy to know that I am “normal for a blogger” and he’s not the only husband who has a blogger wife πŸ™‚

We started the date with Thai food. I ate a bunch of watermelon before we left so I didn’t think I was hungry, but I ended up eating a lot! Ben got a some interesting curry with shrimp and avocado.DSCN1265

I ordered a side of spicy veggies since I haven’t been eating enough lately! This was a rip-off for $10.00. Not worth it.DSCN1266

I also got Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp. This is totally not something I would normally order since it’s fried and just a big bowl of white rice, but it’s what I wanted. I am really trying to listen to what my body is craving and ignore the Food Police, but it’s hard. And this ended up being a bad pick because I wasn’t full after eating this?! WTF.DSCN1269DSCN1271

After the movie I wanted ice cream, but everything was closed. So, I went back home to raid our fridge. I had ice cream with granola and 2 chocolate chip cookies – this was not necessary but it happens.DSCN1272

Push-ups Challenge

This morning I did the initial test for the 100 Push-ups Challenge**, 100 Squats Challenge and 100 Sit-ups Challenge.

Today I was just supposed to see how many of each I could do and what category I should start the exercises in. I fell into the “suck” category. But, in six weeks I should be able to do 100 push-ups! **I am doing Girl-Style push-ups because I have a vagine (va-zheen).And because I’m lazy with strength training, so this is already asking a lot.

Ben and I are doing the Challenge together for the next six weeks. I’ll update ya as we go!

Happy Face

This is my happy face before my run this morning. I was determined to make this run good. DSCN1241

After 2 bad long runs I have been really discouraged so I took a look at my training plan, fitness level, fuel, rest and pride and decided I needed to change some things up. I cut back on my mileage after coming to terms with the fact that I wasn’t at the fitness level I thought when I created the plan.

But, I was optimistic that this would be a good run. And it was!

Once I got back I made a huge Smoothie in a Bowl = SIAB (acronym courtesy of Kath) topped with cereal. This is great because you get a smoothie and cereal for breakfast πŸ™‚DSCN1248DSCN1247

Then, I made Ben breakfast and ended up eating a piece of toast and some eggs. I completely wasn’t hungry for this after my huge smoothie so I felt like crap afterwards. Boo. Need to listen to my hunger!DSCN1250

Oh, before I left I had some bread with PB πŸ™‚ This the the Fiber One Cinnamon Raisin Bread. It’s super processed and has a ton of ingredients (it was the cheapest semi-healthy option and I was desperate at the time). But, I have to admit that it’s really good. It takes like Hawaiian Bread when you eat it plain.DSCN1230

My Saturday eats are usually random…I had some grapes, a chocolate chip cookie, a Bagel Bite from Costco samples and some chips. I think we’re going to see a movie and have dinner. Date Night!

Oh, and I stole this cat. Well, I was writing TY cards in the front room when I glanced out the screen door and saw a cat on our patio. I immediately told Ben “We have a cat!” He told me she is the neighbor next door’s cat and I told him, “She’s mine now!” Ha. But, alas Stevie (I don’t know his/her name) went home.Β  She’ll be back. Steak Prostitute

I am a “Steak Prostitute”.

Let me explain…There is something I really really want to do and I kinda need Ben to agree with it before I do it so I needed to persuade him. I had it – a genius idea! Steak! Now, I know I am a hypocrite because I don’t eat meat*, but these are desperate times people. (*I do eat fish.)DSCN1222

When Ben came home and saw that I made him steak he was so happy he agreed to my crazy scheme and now we are both happy. Everybody wins (except the cow, but I’m trying to put that out of my head). Don’t judge me, I’m from Pico.DSCN1216

> In all seriousness, I don’t eat meat for a couple of reasons. But, I do not judge anyone who does. What I put in my mouth is my choice and what other’s eat is their choice. I married a guy who describes himself as “meat and potatoes”. Since I do most of the cooking he does not actually eat a lot ofΒ  meat. Every so often I will make him a meat dish. Really, he compromises a lot more than I do in the food department. I hope you’re not offended by this off-color joke.

Back to eats: I swear by rice and soy sauce (with protein and veggies) for carb loading. I didn’t eat this the night before my last long run and I’m hoping that’s why I had such a bad run 😦

Tonight I’m making brown rice to go with some random leftovers I have. If this doesn’t work I don’t know what to do!DSCN1219

Lunch was a deviled egg sandwich and kiwi. I was totally craving deviled egg recently and finally got around to making it. I use light mayo – not yogurt or some other “healthy” substitute, I figure once in a while you should have a real deviled egg sammie!DSCN1209

The huge iced coffee kind of upset my stomach this morning and I wasn’t hungry until after 12:30 today – this is weird because I’m normally starved by 11!

In the afternoon I had some dark chocolate covered pretzels and finished off the bag when I got home – oops!DSCN1210

Now I am making chocolate chip cookies and relaxing with trash TV. I have a major craving for chocolate chip cookies after watching that Martha Stewart show where her daughter makes comments with her friend. Random.

I used this recipe, until I realized that it said to process the oats! I just put them in whole. Oh well. DSCN1228Let’s just say I had more than 2 but less than 4 I just had another one, make that 4 total…DSCN1229

I need to be responsible this weekend and do adult things like cleaning, food shopping and paying bills. I am actually really looking forward to getting these tasks off my mind! Isn’t it a relief to cross things off your to-do list?
